Big Wins for Pilsner and Grasshopper

Bringing home the GOLD, was one of our Brewmaster Paul Gautreau’s earliest beers he developed for Big Rock, Pilsner, for (European Style Lager).
“It’s one of the first original recipes that I created for Big Rock, and it’s still one of my favourites.” ~Brewmaster Paul Gautreau

Grasshopper, a gold standard for Kristallweizens in Canada, netted a Silver for (Wheat Beer – North American Style).
“It was a game changer for craft beer when it first arrived on the scene in 1994… and there’s still nothing quite like it.”  ~ Brewmaster Paul Gautreau

The Canadian Brewing Awards have become a premiere competition for judging the quality of Canadian-brewed beer. The contest is the only truly national competition that invites breweries of all sizes from across the country to compete in a blind tasting determining the best beers and ciders in over 60 style categories. Beers were judged based on appearance, aroma, flavour, mouthfeel and overall impression.

The 15th annual Canadian Brewing Awards and Conference was held this year in Ottawa, featuring brewing and branding seminars, an exhibition floor with suppliers and manufacturers, and culminating in the Gala event where this year’s winners were announced. The host city for the 2018 Canadian Brewing Awards & Conference will be Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Cheers to all the participating breweries for continuing to raise the bar on defining what great CRAFT BEER is all about.
